Hi, I’m Ayla! I’m an animal-loving, music-making “Los Angelian” turned Portlander. I am a certified dog trainer and have been training dogs since I was 10. I am passionate about understanding how animals think and see the world. I worked in a humane society’s behavioral department, and then taught dog agility and obedience classes.

Still curious about animal psychology, I pursued specialized studies in animal behavior at California State University Channel Islands. Since embarking on my career in veterinary medicine in 2019, I’ve appreciated the daily blend of challenges and rewards, applying my knowledge in behavior to improve the experience of pets and owners.

My time outside work is spent making music with my adorable husband, playing with my two wild kids, and running a full-blown fan club for my dog, cat, and what I’m pretty sure is the world’s most captivating fish tank.
