Both physical and mental enrichment are important to having a happy and healthy canine friend. While ‘running’ your dog is a good form of exercise it’s only one aspect of their health. Dogs with working breed characteristics may have a higher need for mental and physical stimulation to avoid destructive behavior.

Some dogs like all other dogs but this is not very common. Other dogs may only like a few dogs they know. In other words, dogs are just like people in their desire and ability to socialize. Dog parks and doggie day care is definitely not for everyone. If your dog is leash aggressive or gets nervous around other dogs but needs lots exercise consider a sniff spot.

Dogs might wear muzzles because:

-They eat rocks, socks, or other non-food items that can be toxic or cause expensive and life-threatening surgeries.

-They are nervous of other dogs, and the muzzle helps keep everyone safe during off-leash hiking or on-leash walks.

-The muzzle works as a cue to tell other owners to give the dog some space.

-The owner wants to teach their dog to be comfortable wearing a muzzle in case the dog must wear one someday at the vet's office.
