Candyce, CVT

I am a born and raised Portland native who has had a passion for animals for as long as I can remember. In high school, I volunteered as a Zooteen during my summers to help educate the public about various animals and their habitats.

In 2005 I started working at my first general practice where I gained 4+ years of experience and enough hours to sit for the VTNE (Veterinary Technician National Exam). After passing the national exam, I was officially certified in 2009.

I transitioned into working at the Veterinary Surgical Center of Portland where I spent the next 12 years working alongside talented board certified surgeons, assisting in various orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries, as well as arthroscopy. There, I gained immense experience in monitoring both critical and stable anesthesia and post operative care of various procedures.

As exciting as specialty surgery is, my passion for dental procedures went unfulfilled, so I transitioned back to general practice in 2020. I worked closely with a few amazing doctors where I was able to improve my skills and become proficient in dentistry. After 15+ years of working over an hour away, I decided it was time to find a job a little closer to home. I am extremely excited to be a part of such an incredibly talented and educated team that is led by 3 amazing, smart, and compassionate Veterinarians. Not only did I find a job closer to home, but I feel at home being a part of this work family.

In my free time, when I’m not collecting an abundance of crystals, I enjoy spending quality time with my husband and two kids. I have 2 cattle dogs, Koji and Purkinje, who enjoy running as much as they can when we get them out to Thousand Acres. I also have 4 cats, Halle, Aslan, Maize and Jack who enjoy playing parkour in the living room of our home. In the summertime, you can find us hiking, camping, kayaking, at the beach or just enjoying time outdoors and usually near a body of water.
